Johanna is a PhD candidate in the Urban Forestry program. In her research she uses surveys and walking interviews to explore how humans interact with urban natures to support our mental well-being. Her research is supported by Mitacs Accelerate and Rogers Communications Inc. Johanna has a background in psychology and she is very interested in interdisciplinary work. She is the trainee coordinator of UBC’s Climate Change Health Effects, Adaptation, and ResiLience (HEAL) cluster and she was part of the research team in an interdisciplinary research-industry partnership on the application of digital technologies in urban forestry.

Most of her free time Johanna spends outdoors, playing field hockey, running, or skiing and hiking the mountains of the Canadian West Coast.
