I have a background in animal behaviour, federal wildlife conservation policy, urban stewardship outreach, and hands-on urban ecological field work, as well as experience in wildlife rehabilitation and urban forestry. My research strives to uncover how urban heat island effects influence food web and other behavioural dynamics for endangered bats and bird species in the region, revealing how hyper-localized climates impact foraging strategies, prey abundance, and diet quality. Through this research, I hope to devise future-focused conservation strategies that will not only keep cities bat-friendly, but will also help carve out spaces for other urban species to thrive within. I am a member of multiple microclimate and biodiversity-focused coalitions on-campus, and assist with the UBC Botanical Gardens and the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation with biodiversity monitoring.
Outside of my work at UBC, I enjoy hiking, kayaking, and exploring Vancouver’s vast food scene.
